Photo opportunities were limited during our visit as the surrounding field had just been planted. So we were either right up next to it or 200 yards away. The interior was completely overgrown with brush making it almost impossible to take pictures inside. You will just have to take our word for it that this was once a very impressive castle.
Ballinbreich is located in the Fife region, just east of Newburgh and dates from the fourteenth century when its owners were the Leslie family. The head of the family became the Earl of Rothes in 1457 and the seventh earl was made Duke of Rothes in 1680. His second title was Marquess of Ballinbreich.
