[Argyll Region]
Tarbert Castle

This is considered the landing point for King of Norway, Magnus Barelegs. He used this to symbolize his ownership of the isles in 1068. A structure was built in the 13th century and later reinforced by Robert the Bruce. The Skipness Campbells siezed the castle from the Campbell Earl of Argyll in 1685.

There is only a couple of standing walls left and it is considered unstable. It sits on top of a hill in Tarbert overlooking the bay. The castle has a very commanding view of the water approaches.
